The Garden Gnome Community of Westphalia

The Garden Gnome Community of Westphalia is a nomadic ethnic group that mainly roams in Westphalia, but has been spotted in other regions of Germany. They are, for the most part, neutral beings that do not interfere with humans; however, if provoked, they will attack.

Nobody knows where they came from, but according to Maculon, they were the original Germans and lived in tree-hut communities before the pre-African invasion. Germans moved in from Scandinavia and pushed them out of their homes and killed most of the population, besides the main centralized group in Westphalia. 

During the Thirty Years Francis many of the tribes were contacted by Emperor Francis and Pastor John, leading to internal civil wars among tribes and large gnome wars between neighboring gnome tribes. After the Thirty Years Francis the gnomes who had served on both sides resented each other, and the Thirty Years' Gnome War started, a devastating war between the gnome factions that left Germany covered in broken ceramics and porcelain.

During World War II, the gnomes took a stance of neutrality, even as their camps were accidentally bombed by both sides. While some individual gnomes had decided to fight in the war, there was no collective gnome initiative to fight in the war.

Today, the gnomes stick to themselves and live peaceful lives and generally do not interfere with human affairs.
