Cardinal Giovan Carlo de'Medici

Overview

Cardinal Giovan Carlo (or Giancarlo) de'Medici is the Cardinal-Bishop of Ostia, Dean of the College of Cardinals and is one of Pope Francis' best friends, and is his confidant. Though a cleric, he is sometimes noted to live a worldly life, due to his military career. It is known he had actually fought alongside Francis when he was a bishop during the Thirty Years Francis. Giancarlo did not like his religious life at first, but had reconciled with it sometime in the 1650s. He was ordained and consecrated in 1968, after 300 years was spent of him being a lay cardinal-deacon. It should be noted Giancarlo had time traveled after the Thirty Years Francis to continue his clerical life.

Involvement with Pope Francis

In January 2026, Giancarlo (though having many mistresses himself) had finally convinced Pope Francis to be happy about RadioShack leaving and to reconcile with his wife, Il Poo, saving his marriage. However, recent events proved this otherwise, and Francis officially annulled the marriage with Il Poo.

Giancarlo is also the main commander of the Papal and Spanish navy. He is related to Pope Francis, as his mother is a Habsburg. He is the General of the Mediterranean Sea, Prior of Pisa and is a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

He is a major patron of the arts throughout Italy and the Habsburg realm, with many private and public art galleries.
