Trapani was the former capital of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Kingdoms of Sicily. It was founded as a settlement in 1184 BC by the Elymians before being taken and conquered by Ducetius' army in 448 BC.
In 477 AD, during the decline of the Second Kingdom, the capital was moved from Mineo to Trapani after Mineo was sacked by rebel forces from Calabria. Over time, as the kingdom transitioned into the third kingdom, Trapani grew, especially due its port and closer proximity to settlements in Tunisia, Libya, Spain, and the rest of the Mediterranean, while being far enough away from mainland Italy and Rome, which had resulted in Calabria and parts of Messina to switch hands often, especially during the conquests of Julias Scully.
During the height of the third kingdom, Trapani was viewed as one of the greatest cities in the world, a beacon of civilization against the savage mainland non white Europeans. However, in 1640, Philip IV better known as Craiglist Barflihan was able for around a decade take over Trapani and then the island of Sicily, until colonial reinforcements arrived and retook the island in 1651.
Since then Trapani has remained the capital of Sicily, and has produced many great kings such as King Giovanni Gentile and later Yakub. However, after the War of Two Sicilies, and Il Poo's constitutional monarchy won the civil war, the capital was moved to Messina until the Pope and the Holy Roman Empire liberated them and restored Yakub to power as the rightful king of Sicily.
