The Battle of Saint Clair Shores was the first battle between the Catholic Church and the Novus Ordo. It was fought from July 4th to July 5th 2026 and resulted in an overwhelming Novus Ordite victory over the Holy Roman Empire and the Weisenburger religion.
PRECURSOR
Saint Clair Shores is a strategic location, being in close proximity to Detroit, having control of Lake Saint Clair, and being surrounded by key landmarks such as Blossom Heath.
2 months before the battle, Fuhrer Grem Grems consolidated with his general staff, and tasked the recently returned Heinrich Himmler, Giacomo Lercarco, and Mr JustAFriend (Wilhelm Mohnke), to lead the battle. The plan was to rally a small volksturm of Novus Ordites in the city, and to stage a coup at St. Isaac Johns, raising a small militia force in the process and dethroning Weisenburger. While this was happening, the 60th motorized infantry and the Lehr SS Panzergrenadier would spearhead down Harper Avenue. To the south, the 26th SS Panzergrenadier would come from Grosse Pointe, avoiding Blossom Heath, to assist the militia forces at St. Isaac Johns. To the east, 4 massive battleships under the command of Mike Cox would provide intense naval barragement to key areas, with Gary Peters commanding a large Luftwaffe wing of several bombers, CAS, and fighters.
At the Popes side, the 102nd motorized division and the 2nd infantry stood guard at the East 11 mile posting, with a small artillery garrison managed by local volunteers at the Walter F Bruce VFW post #1146 and at town hall. Centrally, the city's main garrison and anti-air stood guard, protected by the 25th Infantry and the 18th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment. The city's defenses were mainly commanded by Caleb Cockaroach, who cowardly surrendered and was executed, leaving the command vacant.
JULY 4TH
At 4:00 PM, armed militiamen from Lakeview High School and Jefferson Middle School quickly assumed control of the small patch connecting the two, cutting off reinforcements from Fraser. While this was happening, armed forces at St. Isaac Johns stormed the building and seized control in a matter of minutes, with Edward Weisenburger able to flee the city closely.
At 5:30 PM, the Kriegsmarine began an intense naval bombardment of the city, targeting the city's main anti-air and artillery placements, with overwhelming success. With the city reduced to 2 anti-air guns, the Luftwaffe began its bombing, dropping its heaviest ordnance on the 18th regiment and the 102nd motorized.
At 6:30 PM, volksturm regiments began a small skirmish with the 102nd and 2nd infantry, locking them in place from being able to reinforce the 25th and 18th. At this time, the 26th motorized and Lehr SS made it through Harper and began a massive assault into the 18th and 102nd. However, the 18th and 102nd put up fierce resistance, and pushed the Lehr and 26th back. allowing the navy and luftwaffe to soften them.
At 7:00 PM, a suprise attack from the 83rd Wehrmacht was able to take Ardmore Park and quickly secure a connection between the St. Isaac Johns forces and landing forces. Together with the Volksturm, 26th Panzergrenadier and the 83rd Wehrmacht the Novus Ordo was able to completely destroy the 102nd and 2nd. Shortly after, the 83rd Wehrmacht was able to take control of Walter F Bruce VFW post #1146, seizing its artillery and using it for their own efforts. Despite losing many casulties and even more MIA, the volunteer army at the post managed to escape and join with the main Papal army who were still holding a solid defense against the Ordo.
At 8:30 PM, after intense barrage, the Pope who was at Our Lady Queen of Martrys in Fraser field commanding ordered a mass evacuation of the city. Thousands of civilians and hundreds of wounded men made a desperate attempt to reach the town hall and escape. Uncle Free had to abadon his mainframe at Pooniellas House and relocate to Damascus. As the transport ships were fully loaded, and escape seemed likely, the Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine launched a full scale bombardment of the ships and docks, with the 83rd Wehrmacht encircling behind. Nearly 23,000 lives were lost in a span of 20 minutes.
At 10:00 PM, the combined forces of the Wehrmacht, SS, Kriegsmarine, and Luftwaffe launched a full assault on the defensive position, which had gained around 750 extra soldiers from militias and volunteers. Nearly an entire hour of intense fighting ensued, but the Lehr SS managed to secure a breakthrough and cut the Papal army in half, and killing the entirety of the 18th and 102nd.
While small skirmishes lasted out throughout the night the Novus Ordo officially declared victory at 1:25 AM om July 5th, placing Heinrich Himmler as the new overseer of the city.
JULY 5TH
While the battle was over, many skirmishes kept the Novus Ordos army distracted, especially around St. Isaac Johns with its majority Weisenburger population. Because of this distraction, the Pope launched a counterattack with the rest of his troops stationed in Michigan, in a desperate attempt to retake the city. With the combined arms of the 132nd Armored Division, 33rd Infantry Division, 12th Infantry Division, 80th Infantry Division, 131st Armored Division, and around 1,500 misc volunteer and militia regiments, the Pope believed he could win the counterattack.
When the Papal Armies arrived, they were met with intense air and naval barrage, with pinpoint bombings taking out large tanks and trucks before they could even enter the fight. In a turn of events, the Novus Ordo rigged nearly 300,000 tons of TNT on the freeway, completely decimating the Papal army. The few that survived were easily shot down by the well defended and fortified Novus Ordite army.
