In 1984 the island nation of Medici was cast into a civil war, the democratic government under President Dante de Medici was in an active war against the authoritarian General Sebastiano Di Ravello, a high ranking general in the government. The general was beaten back, and cast into the mountains of Medici, and besides a few potshots, the war was essentially over.

In 1986, the Kingdom of Sicily would take notice of this conflict, and despite ideological differences, General Di Ravello was fond of Sicily and was against the previous secularization of Medici. The Kingdom of Sicily would send 15 highly skilled operatives led by Sgt. Michael Antonio Caruso who had previously been sent into Croatia to help in the evacuation of several Sicilian diplomats and embassy workers. They would be paradropped deep into the front lines and sabotaged convoys, blew up bridges, assassinated high ranking officials, and wiretapped phones, directly causing the rebel movement to gain popularity and support again.

On August 17, 1986 3 Sicilian operatives would take positions in the city of Manea atop a tall building at 330 pm. During a visit from President Dante to address the war, the Sicilian snipers would fire, assassinating the Medician President. 3 days later, Di Ravello would assume power and officially declare himself the new president of Medici.
