Joachim Peiper was a Catholic SS officer initially serving under St. Hitler during the invasion of Austria; however soon defected to help the Catholic side win the war during WWII after leaving the NSDAP.
He is best known for the Malmedy Massacre, where he executed several prisoners of the Novus Ordo, killing 84. After this, he went free and continued to help the Catholics win the war.
He was found in 1976 living in France with his family when several anti-clerical communists targeted his home and burnt it down, killing him and his family in the fire. Reports say Peiper defended his home and ensured his family which was living in Germany, would remain safe by removing all records of them from his home during an intense gunfight. He would die from asphyxiation shortly after.
