Italian Military Junta

The Italian Military Junta was an uprising in Lazio led by Vittorio Ambrosio and Alfredo Guzzoni to depose Pope Francis due to his mental illnesses, terror, and their desire for a constitutional monarchy similar to Il Poos. 

The Junta was predicted by Pope Francis for several weeks before the Junta happened. Most dismissed it as his schizophrenic, mentally induced ramblings and did not take the threat seriously. While this was happening, Ambrosio and Guzzoni secured their divisions and locals against the Pope and began taking positions to secure Lazio and encircle Rome when the uprising began.

On 8/24/26, Ambrosio and Guzzoni took positions in Lazio, with Ambrosio commanding in the north and Guzzoni commanding in the east, with smaller locally led militias taking a defensive position in the south. 

Graziani’s troops immediately came in from Umbria to flank Ambrosio from the rear, while Cardinal Giovan Carlo de Medici led a militia and garrison force to heroically combat Guzzoni’s encirclement. 7 hours later, Guzzoni surrendered after taking heavy losses, and 2 hours later Ambrosio laid down arms and surrendered himself to military police, where he is now awaiting execution for high treason.

Even in defeat, the shockwave of the Junta sent across Italy was massive. Because of it, the already rebellious city of Turin had accepted Prince Amedeo's return,  and eventually with the help of the Novus Ordo gained sovereignty as the Free State of Turin.
